Extensively Signed WWII Japanese Personal Good Luck Flag: “Celebrating Your Auspicious Journey to the Front Lines”
$450.00
The cotton flag is approximately 29 inches by 41 inches, with two reinforced corners retaining cord ties. The flag is extensively signed and it bears written statements such as “Celebrating your auspicious journey to the front lines”; “Do your best!”; “Eternal good fortune in combat”; “Serve your country with ultimate loyalty”; “With energy multiplied a hundredfold, I pray for your brave advance”; and “Congratulations on your recovery”, which suggests that the flag may have been presented to a soldier who was redeploying after recovering from an illness or a combat wound. The flag is unusual in that the kanji has been written across the sun, something that is not often seen on signed flags. The flag shows spots and soiling but it is without holes, damage or repairs and it is in very good condition.
