Exceptional Japanese Army Pilot Winter Flight Helmet

A superb example of the cold weather leather flying helmet of a pilot of the Imperial Japanese Army. The helmet is multi-piece construction with chin strap and side straps for the flying goggles. The interior is fully lined in fur. The lining shows signs of actual use but it is complete and intact. There are two hard leather ear pieces and, reflecting the fact that the Japanese pilots used only one ear phone, one of the ear pieces has an opening to receive the cord and it is unlined; the other ear piece is lined with wool to provide warmth. The Army star insignia is on the front of the flight helmet. The helmet has some relatively minor scuffs and spots from use but the leather is clean and supple, the fur lining is complete, and the helmet is in overall excellent used condition.
