Excellent WWII Hawley Fiber M1 Helmet Liner

A superb example of the scarce early Hawley fiber liner for the M1 combat helmet. The liner shows mile use on the interior liner and there are a few light exterior spots. The helmet is free of the usual chips and cracks that are typical of the Hawley liners, which were actually so fragile that they were soon replaced by the composition liners. The helmet has the number “348” stenciled on the front. The interior is stamped “Liner Fibre M1” (the stamp using a variation spelling of the word “fiber”). The liner is complete with the original chin strap. Excellent used condition.
