Early Untouched and Uncleaned Luftwaffe Officer Sword

An exceptionally impressive earlier example of the Luftwaffe officer sword with silver plated nickel, rather than aluminum, components. The blade is manufacturer marked by E&F Horster of Solingen, with their sword and monogram trademark. The pommel, crossguard, and scabbard fittings are all darkly toned with tarnish and remain uncleaned. The swastikas on each side of the pommel and guard appear to have their gilt finishes intact beneath the tarnish. The blue leather grip is tightly wrapped with triple strands of wire which is itself dark and toned. It appears that at some point, quite a long time ago, there was an attempt made to polish the wires of the grip, because traces of old polish can be seen in the wire. The grip has some minor scuffs but it is complete and intact. The blade is quite bright and straight. The leather washer remains in place at the top of the blade. The scabbard is straight and it is covered with blue Moroccan leather which nicely matches the color and grain of the grip leather. The scabbard leather has the typical pock marks and minor scuffs but there are no chips, tears, or cracks in the leather. The blue leather hanger is present on the scabbard rings. Overall the sword is in excellent, used condition.
