Early Tombac Personalized Fallschirmjaeger Badge by Assmann

The early, Tombac badge shows fine detail. The wreath retains most of its burnishing, while the gilt eagle has an aged patina. The reverse of the badge shows contact marks around the rivets and on the back of the eagle around the Assmann mark. One side of the rear of the wreath is lightly scratched with “Obg. HL”, presumably indicating that this badge had been awarded to a Luftwaffe paratrooper Obergefreiter with the initials “H.L.”. Very good condition overall.
