Early Allgemeine SS EM/NCO Visor Cap with Edelweiss

$4,850.00

A very fine example of an Allgemeine SS EM/NCO visor cap circa 1934. The front of the cap displays the earlier SS insignia, comprised of the M1934 political eagle above the jawless “Danziger” skull. Both the cap peak and cap band are fully piped in white. The visor is the earlier, thinner, leather visor (as opposed to the later vulcanfibre visor with its pronounced lip on the forward edge)), which shows some age crazing. The full SS chin strap is in place above the visor. The internal wire stiffener in the peak appears to have been removed, giving the cap a classic jaunty look. The black wool body of the cap is in excellent condition, without stains or holes. The left side of the cap has affixed to it the large metal edelweiss flower with swastika, an emblem that was used by certain SA groups on their kepis. The interior of the cap is fully lined in orange cloth, with a complete and intact celluloid sweat shield bearing the SS runes. The cap is marked as a size 54. The interior rear of the cap retains its large SS RZM cloth label of the type that is correct for an SS cap circa 1934. Overall the cap is a superb example of an early Allgemeine SS enlisted or NCO ranks visor cap, with early SS insignia, in an excellent state of preservation, and demonstrating a wonderful appearance with tremendous character.
