Confederate D Guard Bowie Knife with Tooled Leather Sheath and Shiloh Attribution Plate on a GAR Donation Plaque

The D-Guard Bowie knife has an overall length in the sheath of approximately 11-1/2 inches, with a blade length of approximately 6-1/2 inches. The blade shows scratches and spots but it is without nicks, chips, or active rust. The forged iron guard has a tapered center and turned down quillons. The wood grip is without chips or cracks. Affixed to the grip is a metal plaque which is toned with age and it is engraved “From Shiloh / Presented To / GAR / MCH-8-1886 / By D.D. Kimel”. The tooled leather sheath is detailed and supple, with an intact belt loop.
