Confederate Cavalry Saber

The saber has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 42 inches, with a blade length of approximately 35 inches. The blade has an unstopped fuller,   is dark for approximately half of its length, and the cutting edge shows several barely perceptible nicks and it is without chips or active rust. The wood grip is covered in black oil cloth and it is wrapped with a single strand of  copper wire. The guard and the pommel exhibit a dark, uncleaned patina. The scabbard shows areas of surface rust on both sides mixed with areas of original brown lacquer. The scabbard has two brass scabbard bands with brass carrying rings as well as a brass drag on the base. Overall the saber is in very good condition. The brass fittings on the scabbard have been cleaned, the guard has not.
