Civil War Union Cavalry Shell Jacket

The blue wool jacket is exceptionally clean, without holes, damage or repairs. The collar, cuffs, and rear are all trimmed with the golden yellow worsted wool embellishments of the cavalry branch. The trim exhibits consistent light fading as would result from the jacket having been worn in the sunlight over time. All gilt eagle buttons are intact. Each shoulder bears period brass NCO shoulder scales. The interior lining of a sleeve bears an indistinct stamp, as well as the stenciled designation of “1 X”. There are some minor separations of the lining. The shell jacket is in excellent condition and it makes a very good appearance.
