Civil War U.S. Army “Chapeau De Bras” Bicorne Dress Hat

The high bicorne hat is constructed of beaver fur, with gold bullion cord tassels on each end. Later versions heights were lowered by quite a bit. The side bears a bullion tape ornamentation with large gilt eagle button. The top of the hat retains black ostrich feathers. The interior retains the leather sweatband as well as the silken lining. The lining is retailer marked by the New York military clothier firm of Warnock & Company. The hat shows signs of age and wear to the fur on the edges, but overall the hat is in very good condition.
