Civil War Sword Bayonet

The weapon has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 25-1/4 inches, with a blade length of approximately 20 inches. The blade has a gray cast and shows typical signs of age with spots and scratches, but the blade is without nicks, chips, or active rust. The ricasso bears what appears to be a letter “S”, while the guard end bears the number “23” and the back strap of the grip has the letters “B.H.”. The brass grip has an uncleaned patina,as do the brass components of the scabbard. The leather scabbard shows cracks and scuffs, but it is complete and intact. The lower scabbard fitting shows indentations.
