Cased WWII 8th Air Force Silver Presentation Cup

The silver cup is approximately 4 inches tall, with a top diameter of approximately 2-7/8 inches and a base diameter of approximately 2-1/2 inches. The side of the cup has affixed to it a finely detailed gilt American eagle, below which is the enameled insignia of the 8th U.S. Army Air Force. Below this insignia the cup is engraved “Eighth Air Force England 1942-1945”. The base of the cup is marked with the number “142”. The base also has the maker mark of a silversmith, this being “HH”, as well as three British silver marks. The cup is in excellent condition, and it is contained within a fitted olive green leather case with a velvet and silk lining. The case is approximately 6-1/2 inches by 4-1/2 inches by 3-1/2 inches, with the lid of the case having the 8th Air Force insignia. The case has multiple scuffs and abrasions as well as two torn front closure straps, but it is complete and intact.
