Cased Wurttemberg Reserve Infantry Officer Pickelhaube

$1,750.00

A very fine example of the pickelhaube of a reserve infantry officer of Wurttemberg, contained within its original case. The black patent leather surface is in very good condition, exhibiting some relatively minor age cracks and some dulling of the surface to a matte appearance, primarily on the front visor. The helmet has the large fire gilt wappen of the state of Wurttemberg on the front above the brass officer fish scale chin strap. The sides of the helmet display officer cockades of the national colors and of Wurttemberg. The fluted spike is atop a base secured to the helmet with star topped rivets. The interior silk lining shows some wear but both the silk lining itself and the leather sweatband are in very good condition. The helmet resides within its black leather carrying case, which shows carrying wear, primarily in a loosening of the interior padding and in the fact that the leather strap that secures the base to the case has broken and cannot be fastened. The helmet, in its entirety, is exceptionally impressive.
