Cased Posthumous Korean War Purple Heart Medals and Documents Group

The Purple Heart is a full wrap brooch suspension that is named on three lines to “Pvt. Guy L. Laine USMC”. The medal is contained within the titled black leather Navy style “coffin” case. Also present in the group is a U.S. Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, named on three lines to “Guy. L. Laine 1950”. There is also a Gold Star Mother’s pin, with the reverse engraved with the initials “RSP”. Documents which accompany the medals are: a “Coasts of China” certificate, reflecting Laine’s service as a “China Marine”; a 1951 letter from a Marine Corps officer, apparently to Laine’s mother; a copy of a 1951 letter from another Marine Corps officer, also apparently to Laine’s mother, regarding death benefits; a junior high school graduation certificate; and documents regarding death benefits.There is also a color slide of Laine’s grave at Arlington National Cemetery. The documents show age. The medals are in excellent condition.
