Cased Japanese Navy 1st Class Communications Badge

From the excellent website “Imperial Japan Medals and Badges” dot com: “Awarded to NCOs who passed the communications proficiency test, which included mastery of wireless communications as well as code-writing and code-breaking. In addition, those who received the 2nd Class badge 3 times would receive a 1st Class badge.” The badge is in excellent condition with fine enamel and dark, uncleaned patina. It is contained within its fitted, titled leather case, which shows expected signs of age and wear and has some significant scuffing.
