Cased and Named Posthumous Purple Heart to a U.S. Marine Corps Raider


Recently surfaced here in Penna, the Purple Heart is a silver gilt, split brooch suspension, and it is officially hand engraved “PFC Paul E. Reiber USMC”. Private First Class Reiber from Carlisle Springs PA, was a Marine Corps Raider who was killed in action on on July 21, 1944, at the age of 20 years old. He was buried in the American Military Cemetery in Manila in the Philippines. The medal shows some spots and wear of the gilt finish. The interior lining of the case lid is missing. Overall the medal and the case are both in very good condition.
