Cased and Named Berlin Air Lift Air Medal Group with “Operation Vittles” Documents

The group is comprised of a cased Air Medal on a full wrap brooch suspension. The reverse is hand engraved “Robert F. Jenkins”. The medal is contained within its titled black leather case together with the enamel lapel badge; a ribbon bar; a second ribbon bar with an oak leaf cluster; and a short length of ribbon. The medal is in excellent condition, with the case in very good condition, although the section of paper which covers the rear hinge is somewhat loose. Also with the group is the Berlin Airlift “Medal for Humane Action” with aircraft device. The medal is on a slot brooch suspension. The group further includes the formal citation document for the Air Medal, dated in May of 1949 for “Operation Vittles”, together with two copies of the typed citation for an oak leaf cluster for the Air Medal. The documents are rolled and contained within their mailing tube, bearing the handwritten notation of “Air Medal”. The documents show age and a bit of crumpling, but they are complete and intact. Overall the items in the group are in very good condition.
