Captured WWII Japanese Soldier’s Letter with Military Intelligence Examination Stamp

$65.00

The notepaper bears handwritten kanji and it is approximately 7 inches by 10 inches. It is apparently the second page of a letter to a Japanese soldier from his wife, which was obviously captured by an American soldier and then examined by military intelligence before it was allowed to be kept as a souvenir. The letter reads “As for the Ward Office I don’t know yet.  Right now Chiyo-san and Okabe-san from our neighborhood group are taking procedures and once we find out I’ll let you know. I heard that Uno-san is from Aomori.  For you too, it is getting cold so please take care and be sure not to catch a cold. Rest assured as for the children, I’m sure to raise them properly, so please don’t worry. I want to write more but Takashi just woke up. In conclusion, ensure you take care of yourself. Good bye”. The reverse has an Allied Joint Intelligence examination stamp. The document shows age toning and fold lines.
