Bullion 1920’s-1930’s Army Air Force Airship Pilot Wing

The Airship Pilot wing was instituted in 1921 and it was abolished in 1940 (although it continued to be worn by those who had earned the right to wear it). This example is full size, approximately 3 1/4 inches wide, inclusive of the olive drab wool base on which the wing is embroidered. The silver bullion thread is deeply toned with age. The wing was clearly once sewn to a uniform and it was removed from the uniform in very good condition.
