The group is comprised of the 1914-1915 Star; the British War Medal; and the World War I Victory Medal. The 1914-1915 Star is named to Private C.L. Whitfield for service in the 3rd Mounted Rifles (the Natal Mounted Rifles). The War Medal and the Victory Medal are named to 184070 Private 2nd Class C.L. Whitfield of the Royal Air Force. The group is accompanied by five photocopied pages of service records, which reflect the fact that Whitfield was from South Africa and that, having enlisted in the Natal Mounted Rifles, he later transferred to the Royal Air Force. The medals are in excellent condition.
