Boxed WWII Japanese Personal Body Armor Vest
A World War II piece of privately purchased Japanese body armor within its original retailer’s box. The armor is a vest configuration designed to protect the front and back of the torso. The armor plate is contained within a vest of exterior olive green cotton, lined with white cotton. The vest has hook and eye closures on one shoulder, with two sets of ties on each side to connect the front to the back. One of the ties has detached, but it remains present with the vest and could easily be reattached. The vest has a cloth Tokyo retailer label on the interior, and there is a retailer label within the original blue cardboard box. The corners of the box are split from age, but the vest itself is in essentially unworn and unused condition.
