B-36 Peacemaker Bomber Manufacturer Model Ashtray
A large desk top ashtray produced for the Consolidated Aircraft Corporation with a model of the B-36 “Peacemaker” intercontinental bomber. The ashtray section is aluminum while the bomber itself is chrome plated steel. The ashtray was manufactured for Consolidated by the Allyn Sales Company of Los Angeles, California (Allyn Sales manufactured such items for various aircraft manufacturers to use as public relations gifts to military personnel). The ashtray is approximately 8 inches long by 5 1/2 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches tall. The B-36 model itself is 7 1/4 inches long and 10 1/2 inches wide. The B-36 bomber was powered by six propellers as well as jet engines. The engines were attached in two pods, with one fastened under the outer area of each wing. On this model one of those jet engine pods is missing. Overall very good condition.
