The scrapbook covers the career and the activities in aviation of Merritt D. Bradt, who began working as an airplane mechanic in 1917 for the Russell Airplane Company in Montana. According to Bradt’s resume, a copy of which is mounted inside the back cover of the album, he constructed a large triplane from start to finish while at the Russell Company and he flew the plane solo in 1917. The album contains 52 pages, containing photographs and documents covering Bradt’s long career and his involvement with both civil and military aviation. The album includes photographs relating to the Lafayette Escadrille and material relating to Charles Lindbergh. The pages show typical age toning, but the documents and photographs are clear.
