Austro-Hungarian Army 8th Jäger Battalion Jägerhut (Hunter’s Hat)

The headgear has a stiff black felt body with a brim that is edged in black leather. Around the crown is the traditional green cord with acorn toggles, with the cord being somewhat faded. A collection of dark feathers is affixed to the side, together with a distinct gilt metal hunting horn badge bearing the battalion number of “8”. The interior retains the full leather sweatband, and the green silk lining is intact, with the crown having a faint maker mark. Overall very good condition.
