A Pair of Imperial German Soldier Photographs in Period Commemorative War Service Frames
$250.00
The photographs are those of a younger and an older soldier, very likely a father and son. They are within hand made period wooden frames with easel stands on the reverse. The frames are each carved with the dedication of “Erinnerung Weltkrieg 1914-18” (“In Remembrance of the World War 1914-18”). Both framed photographs measure approximately 6 1/4 by 9 3/4 inches. The younger soldier wears a bayonet and the ribbon of the Iron Cross, Second Class. It appears that the visible shoulder strap on his uniform is embroidered with the flaming bomb of the field artillery branch. The older soldier is presumably a non commissioned officer. He wears a dress bayonet with portepee on his belt. The photographs both show expected signs of age but they are in overall very good condition.
