44th Artillery Rgt. Kugelhelm with Cover and Ammo Pouch

$1,100.00

A very nice example of an Imperial Prussian enlisted ranks kugelhelm, unit marked to the 44th Field Artillery Regiment, with the unit marked field gray cover and a Model 1871 Mauser carbine ammunition pouch that is also marked to the same unit. The kugelhel is in very good used condition. It has the typical fine cracks and wear to the patent leather surface and it is lacking its chin strap but it remains a very attractive example of the Prussian artillery helmet. The interior rear visor is dated 1916 and marked to the 44th Field Artillery Regiment. The interior liner lacks the drawstring but it is quite clean. The field gray cloth cover is likewise in very good used condition. It can be clearly seen that at one time the number “44” was separately sewn to the front of the cover and later removed in accordance with regulation. The interior of the cover is dated 1915 and, like the helmet, is regiment marked to the 44th Field Artillery. All 5 attachment hooks remain in place on the cover. The ammunition pouch is light brown leather and manufacturer marked. The interior lid is stamped with the designation of the 44th Field Artillery Regiment. The interior inserts remain inside of the pouch, which is in very good used condition. The kugelhelm, matching cover, and pouch comprise a splendid set of artifacts from one of Imperial Prussia’s field artillery units of the first World War.
