34 Copies British WWII “The Prisoner of War” Newspaper
$350.00
“The Prisoner of War” newspaper was the official journal of the Prisoners of War Department of the Red Cross and the Saint John War Organization. It was, as is noted on the masthead, “Free to Next-of-Kin” to the prisoners of war. Each issue runs to 16 pages and contains articles about prisoners of war and, somewhat surprisingly, quite a few photos from the POW camps. The group comprises a complete run of the newspaper from October, 1942, the the final published issue in July of 1945. The October, 1942 issue is somewhat tattered (having been stored on top of the pile of newspapers for decades) but generally the issues are in complete and very good condition.
