1967 U.S. Marine’s Hawaii R&R Document Group

The documents relate to the 1967 Rest and Relaxation leave of U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Lorenzo T. Gumataotao of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment. Lance Corporal Gumataotao appears to have saved most every document connected with his leave from combat operations. The group is comprised of over 18 separate pieces of documentation, including Lance Corporal Gumataotao’s travel orders; Hawaii postcards; a large color booklet on the subject of military R&R in Hawaii; brochures on the Admiral Cook Apartment Hotel; and even the bill for his stay at the Admiral Cook from December 19 to December 24, 1967.
