1945 Type 95 Japanese Army NCO Nagoya Arsenal Sword

$1,050.00

A Type 95 Japanese Army NCO sword with the wooden grip that was used on the Type 95 swords in 1945. The sword blade and scabbard have matching serial numbers and the position of the number on the blade, configured to be read with the cutting edge up, identifies the sword as having been produced by the Nagoya Arsenal (The only other source for the Type 95 sword was the Tokyo arsenal, which impressed the number on the blade in such a way that it is read with the cutting edge facing down). The machine-made blade is 26 inches long. The blade is generally quite bright and, while there are some typical scratches, there are no cracks, chips, or rust. The overall length is approximately 38 inches in the scabbard. The scabbard exhibits about 80% of its original olive brown paint. The tsuba is the plain iron style utilized on the 1945 production NCO swords. The iron fittings exhibit about 90% original black paint and the checkered wood grips are in very good condition showing only minor wear. The sword is complete with its original tassel.
