1942 Patriotic Vase Presented by Minister of the Army Hideki Tojo

The porcelain vase is approximately 6 inches tall. The vase depicts a Japanese two engine aircraft flying through a cloud filled sky. The top edge of the vase shows some spots of wear. The base bears a kanji presentation from the Minister of the Army dated March 13, 1942. Between July of 1940 and July of 1944, the Minister of the Army was Hideki Tojo, who also served as Japan’s Prime Minister from October of 1941 to July of 1944, and who is generally viewed as the individual primarily responsible for the decision to attack Pearl Harbor. The vase is without chips or cracks and it is in excellent condition.
