1941 Award Document for the1939 Iron Cross First Class Spange Signed By Afrika Korps Commander Erwin Rommel

The document is boldly signed “Rommel” in pencil on a military authorization awarding the spange for the 1st class Iron Cross to Captain Egon Grempels of the 1st Battalion, 33rd Anti aircraft Regiment, on December 19, 1941 . The document measures 11 inches by 8 1/4 inches. The document is signed by Rommel as General of the Panzer Troop and Field Commander of the Panzer Group “Afrika”. In February of 1941, 10 months before this document was signed, Rommel had been named by Hitler as commander of the German “Afrika Korps”. The document is in overall excellent condition.
