1939 NSKK East Prussia Event Participation on Amber
$250.00
An exceptionally unusual memento of a 1939 NSKK road event in East Prussia. Most every NSKK event was commemorated with the presentation to the participants of table medals or plaques intended to be mounted on the dashboards of their vehicles. This event, however, was marked by presenting to the NSKK members a piece of polished amber on which a silver metal NSKK eagle was mounted. The amber is etched with the designation “East Prussia Drive 1939”. The piece is approximately 2 1/2 by 2 3/4 inches in size. There is some wear to the inscription but it remains entirely legible.
This NSKK memento was one of several NSKK pieces that were among the effects of NSKK member and Army Officer Gerhard Haeublein, who was killed in action on September 7, 1939, while serving with an armored reconnaissance unit. His father was Army General Georg Haeublein.
