The base bears the designation that the bowl commemorates the Imperial Army’16th Division’s deployment to Manchuria, with the date of “Showa 11 [1936] June”. The map on the bowl bears the names of locations such as Nicorisk [Today called Ussuriysk]; Khabarovsk; Blagoveshchensk; Dabriya; Qiqihar (Rail Center with 6-pointed star; Qiqihar became a major military base for the Guandong Army and its economic importance also grew rapidly); Harbin; and Jilin.
