1918 German Bravery Honor Document

The document is approximately 11-1/2 inches by 15-1/4 inches, mounted onto cardboard. The “Ehren-Gedenkblatt” (honor document) recognizes the valor of Kanonier Emil Kothera of the 5th Battery, Field Artillery Regiment 192. The document commemorates his bravery (“Tapferkeit vor dem Feinde”) during the tank battle between the Ancre and Avre rivers on August 8, 1918. The document is officially signed by a Generalmajor and Commander of the 192nd Infantry Division, dated “Im Felde” (In the field) on September 30, 1918.
