1917 Dated German Model 1898/05 “Butcher Blade” Bayonet by Pack Ohliger & Co.

The blade is generally very clean, showing spots and indications of sharpening on the cutting edge. The spine of the blade bears the cypher of Kaiser Wilhelm and the date of “17”. The pommel and the guard exhibit a dark and uncleaned patina over the finish. The wood grip plates show age but are without chips or cracks. The pommel shows waffen amt marks. The ricasso shows the maker name of Pack Ohliger & Company. The blued finish of the scabbard is largely intact, with some wear and spots of rust. The scabbard has a small indentation on one edge an another on the surface, neither of which effect the ability to draw or sheath the bayonet. Overall very good field used condition.
