The surfaces of the leather helmet show some typical age crazing, with a few scuffs and a film of dust, but the helmet retains a very good shape and displays good polish. The Baden eagle front plate is retained through two holes in the front of the helmet. The front metal edge of the visor, the wappen front plate, the spike, the spike base, and the rear spine all show a matte gray appearance and an uncleaned patina. The helmet displays a Baden and national colors cockades. The complete chin strap is present. The full leather liner is intact on the interior, with the tops of two of the nine tongues being torn.. The interior of the helmet bears a painted date of 1916 and the regimental designation of the 111th (3rd Baden) Infantry Regiment “Margrave Ludwig William”. Overall the helmet is in fine condition and it makes a very good appearance.
