11th Airborne 511th PIR Customized Uniform Set

$575.00

A set comprised of a customized Ike jacket and shirt with trousers worn by a paratrooper of the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

The Ike jacket has an interior pocket Quartermaster tag dated in April of 1945, with a stated size of 36 Long. The laundry stamp of S-1928 appears in several places inside of the jacket. The owner of the jacket customized its appearance by wearing two “US” collar disks, one on each side of the upper collar, and two infantry collar disks, one on each lapel. The pocket flaps on the front pockets were sewn down, making the pockets flat. On the left breast is am embroidered airborne oval with embroidered wings, pinned to which is a sterling paratrooper wing. On the right shoulder is the theater-made “8 Ball” patch of the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment and, on the left shoulder, is the patch of the 11th Airborne Division. Both patches are beautifully cross-stitched onto the uniform. The wool shirt is a size 14 1/2-33, with the same laundry stamp as the Ike jacket. The shirt has an 11th Airborne Division patch cross-stitched to the left shoulder. On the left breast is an olive drab wool oval on which was hand stitched a Japanese-made paratrooper wing. The shirt was further customized with the addition of camouflage parachute silk to the interior neck, underarms, and cuffs of the shirt. The uniform includes a pair of olive drab wool trousers of a lighter shade than the Ike jacket. The number 3600 is stamped inside of the trousers. The trousers have stains on the legs that are rather faint. Overall the uniform set is in very good condition.
