Large 1941 NSFK Hitler Youth Flying Competition Korpsfuhrer Award Medal by Deschler & Son

The silvered medal is approximately 3 inches in diameter. The obverse features a profile of National Socialist Flying Corps Commander Friedrich Christiansen (a former Kriegsmarine pilot of World War I, Christiansen had 21 aerial victories and was a recipient of the Pour Le Merite. In World War II he also held the rank of a General in the Luftwaffe). The obverse bears the designation “Plakette Des Korpsfuhrer Des NS-Fliegerkorps (“Award of the Leader of the National Socialist Flying Corps”) and “Reichs-Wettkampf Der Fliger Hitler Jugend 1941” (“National Competition of the Flying Section of the Hitler Youth 1941”). The reverse exhibits the Icarus symbol of the NSFK surrounded by oak leaves. The silver finish shows some some spots, verdigiris, and patina. The medal is maker marked by the firm of Deschler & Son. Overall the medal is in excellent condition and very impressive.
