Visor Cap of an Officer of the Transportkorps Speer Serving with the Luftwaffe
$1,250.00
An exceptionally clean visor cap worn by an officer of the NSKK who served as a member of Transportkorps Speer with the Luftwaffe. The cap has a superb saddle shape. It is without stains or holes and shows only minimal interior wear. There is a paper tag on the interior with a stated size of 54. The interior carries a full, maker marked, celluloid sweat shield. This exact cap was posted on the Warrelics.eu Forum in 2013 by the late Bob Coleman, one of the most well known collectors of Third Reich material. Bob posted the cap on a thread dealing with NSKK visor caps. That thread can be found here: https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/cap-authentication-forum/nskk-visor-opinion-292595/
At the beginning of the war, NSKK units began serving with Army and Luftwaffe formations to supply much needed transport support. These NSKK units were eventually formed into Transportkorps Speer under the command of Minister of Armaments Albert Speer. It was not until later in 1944 that the Transportkorps Speer had its own olive brown uniforms produced. Until that time many personnel wore visor caps of the branch with which they were serving but with the NSKK eagle and almost always with the army style wreath and cockade on the cap band, as here.
