WWII Named USMC Medals, Photos, & “Reward” Poster
$175.00
The medals, dog tags, photographs, and a “Wanted” poster, of U.S. Marine Herbert L. Kramer. Kramer was obviously a patriot, having enlisted in the Marine Corps (according to the poster) on December 10, 1941, only days after the attack on Pearl Harbor. In June of 1944 there was apparently some sort of…misunderstanding. The group includes a “Reward” poster, offering a $25 reward for delivery of Kramer to a Marine Corps office or post, with Kramer being characterized as a “straggler”. According to the poster Kramer had been “absent over leave” for five days. Whatever caused Kramer to be “absent” must have been cleared up to the satisfaction of the Corps, for it did not prevent Kramer from being awarded the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal that is present in the group. Kramer obviously kept the poster that advertised a reward for his return as a presumably humorous memento of his military service. The group includes the following items:
-WWII Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, officially hand engraved “No. A-12827 / Herbert L. Kramer / 1st Enlistment / 1941-1945”.
– WWII Pacific Campaign Medal, crimp brooch.
– WWII Victory Medal, slot brooch.
– The “Reward” poster for Kramer’s capture, 8 by 10 1/4 inches, with fold lines, but completely legible.
– Kramer’s two dog tags.
– A group of approximately 43 black and white photographs, most all showing Marines in camp, with a number of snapshots of some pretty girls as well.
The items in the group are in overall very good condition.
