Model 1885 Private Purchase Army Officer Campaign Hat

A truly fine example of the model 1885 black wool U.S. Army campaign hat. This is a private purchase model with the impressed designation of “Montana” in the sweatband. The hat has snowflake vents on each side and double row of stitching on the brim. The original grosgrain ribbon is present, as is a very nicely toned gold / black officer cap cord. The interior leather sweatband is complete and intact. An exceptionally fine example of a classic piece of Indian Wars headgear in excellent untouched condition with no damage or repairs.
