Battle Damaged Single Decal Camo M40 Army Helmet

The exterior field applied deep tan camo paint is approximately 60% intact. The single Army eagle decal is approximately 70% intact. The helmet obviously received a strike from either a large caliber bullet or a heavy piece of shrapnel on the lower left rim, and the bottom edge at that spot was shattered by the impact. The liner remains present but is a bit dry and flaking. The chin strap is present and dated 1942. The helmet is stamped with the factory code of “NS 62”, indicating a size 62 shell produced by Vereinigte Deutsche Nikelwerke.
