Sennibari Belt of 1,000 Stitches with Ancient Scenes
$165.00
A World War II period sennibari belt of 1,000 stitches, printed with scenes of ancient Japanese history. The printed cloth contains the 1,000 red stitches that were embroidered by various women to protect the soldier who wore the belt. The cotton cloth belt is approximately 84 inches long (about 7 feet) exclusive of the cloth ties for securing the belt around the body. The belt shows wear and has a few period repairs. The belt shows the expected discoloration from the fact that it was worn constantly around the body of a Japanese soldier. Overall it is in very good used condition. This is an example of one of these famous pieces of soldier’s personal equipment about which there can be no doubt that it was worn extensively in the field during combat operations.
