WWII Period Imperial Japanese Diplomatic Dress Bicorn Hat

The black beaver pelt bicorn hat was worn with the full dress uniform of a diplomat of Imperial Japan. One side of the hat bears ornamentation which displays heavy gold bullion embroidery of a Paulownia leaf above a gilt Paulownia button. The same side of the hat which displays the bullion ornamentation also caries black silk bands, 2 1/4 inches wide, angled diagonally on the hat. One of these bands has a small hole in it on the top edge. The hat is topped with black ostrich feathers. The interior has a fine leather sweatband and a white silk lining in the crown, with the crown being embroidered with the initials of the owner “S.O.”.  The hat shows relatively minor wear on the bottom edges and partially detached sweatband but remains in overall very good condition.
