Japanese Navy China Front Award Flag to Cruiser Izumo

Silk Japanese Navy China Front Service Flag for the armored cruiser Izumo. The flag is approximately 18 1/2 inches by 26 inches. Leather reinforced corners with string ties.
The Izumo was a armored cruiser that served as the flagship for the Imperial Japanese Naval forces during the First Shanghai Incident in 1932, and participated in the Battle of Shanghai in 1937. The Isuzo supported Japanese military operations in the Philippines. It was sunk by aerial attacks from an American aircraft carrier in 1945.
