Japanese Navy Lieutenant Two Piece Summer Flight Suit

The lightweight flight jacket and pants of a Japanese Navy aviator with the rank of Lieutenant. Both the jacket and pants are constructed of a lightweight olive green cotton. The jacket has a five wooden button closure beneath a wind flap, with wooden buttons on each cuff. There is a large single pocket on the left breast which closes with a concealed wooden button. The waist has a drawstring closure. On the left sleeve is the rank insignia of a Navy Lieutenant in a style that was made for use on a flight jacket. There is a very clear interior label inside of the jacket. The flight pants are a slightly lighter shade of lightweight green cotton, with each leg having a large front pocket that closes with a Bakelite button. The fabric drawstring at the waist is present and the flight pants have an interior label that is essentially identical to the label in the flight jacket. The set shows only minimal use and is in excellent condition.
