WWII Named 3rd Air Force Air Gunner Uniform Group

The World War II uniform group of an air gunner in the 3rd Army Air Force. The group is comprised of the following items:
– Ike jacket, tagged as a size 34 regular. The jacket has a 3rd Air Force shoulder patch, embroidered on wool. Both sleeves have Sergeant chevrons, while the lower right sleeve has the technical specialist triangle patch of an armorer. On the left breast is a full size, 3 inch, sterling silver pin back air gunner wing. The interior pocket has a Quartermaster tag dated July 22, 1944. A discharge eagle patch is sewn on the right breast. The interior bears the written name “Sgt. Harris” and the laundry mark of “H-5705”. This was Sergeant George J. Harris, Jr., of Huntington , Pennsylvania. The jacket shows signs of wear but it is in excellent condition, without exterior stains or holes.
– Olive drab wool enlisted ranks shirt, with Quartermaster tag dated August 2, 1937 and with a stated size of 14 1/2-32. The sleeves carry Sergeant chevrons and the left sleeve has an embroidered wool Army Air Force patch, while the lower right sleeve carries the technical specialist triangle patch of a mechanic. The interior has the handwritten laundry mark of “H-5705”. The shirt has embroidered air gunner wings on the left breast. The shirt has two noticeable holes, one on the front and one on the back.
– Khaki colored cotton shirt with an “Officer’s Club Shirts” label and the stamped laundry mark of “H-5705”. The sleeves have Sergeant chevrons while the left shoulder has a fully embroidered 3rd Air Force patch. The shirt has a number of spots and shows some wear at the collar.
– Olive drab wool enlisted ranks uniform trousers, with a waist size tag of 30-31, but with a Quartermaster tag dated May 24, 1943, and bearing a stated size of 31-31. The trousers are quite clean, without stains or holes.
– Khaki colored wool necktie.
– Two overseas cap, one in enlisted quality olive drab wool, with the other being a higher quality “chocolate” wool gabardine. Both caps carry Army Air Force piping and contain the written laundry mark of “H-5705”. The enlisted quality cap has on it a small pin back air gunner insignia that was cut from a full size air gunner wing.
