WWII Named Japanese Imperial Guard Officer’s Kepi

Kepi worn by Major Kawasaki of Emperor Hirohito’s Imperial Guard. The red wool body of the cap is in very good condition, with a few small scattered holes in between the ranks of gold braid on the side of the cap. The braid indicates the rank of major. The gold braid is slightly toned with age. The surface of the leather visor is typically crazed with age. The cap has an adjustable leather sweat band and a full black silk lining. On the lining is embroidered the name of the officer who wore the cap, “Kawasaki”. The black leather sweatband is partially unstitched.
