Named 1939 Dated Schutzpolizei Hauptmann Officer Uniform

$1,650.00

The uniform is comprised of the tunic and trousers, both tailored in the distinctive blue green wool of the German police in the Third Reich. The shoulders carry the rank boards of a Hauptmann, and beneath the right shoulder board is a button for wear of the officer’s dress aiguillette. On the upper left breast are three loops for the wear of a ribbon bar, with the tunic presently having the single ribbon bar for the 1939 Iron Cross Second Class. On the lower left breast are two sets of loops for the wear of two badges or decorations. On the left sleeve is the silver bullion police eagle. The interior of the tunic has the tailor’s label of Anton Kinting in the neck. There is also a label inside of the tunic which indicates that it was given the “Berlou” mothproofing treatment. This was a method of mothproofing that was developed by the Berlou Company in Ohio in the 1930’s. The presence of the label suggests that the American veteran who brought the uniform home had it treated by a cleaner to protect it. The tunic is very clean, without holes, damage or repairs, and it makes an excellent appearance. The tunic is accompanied by piped trousers in matching blue green wool. The trousers have small holes or separations on both the upper front and the back. The interior has the tailor label of the firm of Roger Kauert K.G.which is dated 1939, and on which is written the name of the police officer who owned the uniform. The interior of the trousers also have the label which reflects that they received the Berlou mothproofing treatment.
