The bayonet has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 14 inches long. The blade exhibits spots, stains and scratches but the plating is intact. The ricasso bears the maker mark of the firm of E. u. F. Horster. The stag grip plates are without chips or cracks. The guard and the pommel show an uncleaned patina. The scabbard has areas of paint loss. The leather frog is quite dry but it is intact. The lower reverse side of the frog has an indistinct maker mark.
